Brand new track from one of my favorite up and coming femcees and producers out of Columbus, GA.
Nikki McKnight formerly known as Ya Gyrl Terror hit me last week and said there were too many artists out here with 'Terror' in their name trying to get put on so she decided to go with her government.
I honestly like this cut and have banged it repeatedly since Nikki dropped it off to me fresh out the studio. Listening to the words makes me want to grind that much harder.
Mike DeVille on the beat and Nikki on the track together always makes it a serious situation. Keep looking out for her---yes she's young but with development and time the potential is definately there.

The first time I went to a release party for a mixtape I was like what's next? A single release party?
And wouldn't you know it, I was reading an unnamed urban mag this weekend and saw an ad for an artist's single release party. Hey, it's a recession. If that's what it takes to keep businesses from folding I'm all for it. So what's next? An 'I'm going into the studio' announcement release party???
On a serious tip I'm looking forward to Outlaw's upcoming mixtape. F.O. you know I see you!
....hosted by Bonecrusher. I'd been wondering where he been since his appearance on 'Celebrity Fit Club.'
There was a Bonecrusher site-ing this weekend @ CoreDJs #10 retreat in Atltanta. At the JMJ Awards Presentation at Club Dreamz Bonecrusher along with Goodie Mob (if you didn't know Goodie is my second favorite hip hop group of all time) and Killer Mike all made appearances. I wanted to get a Goodie Mob autograph but I couldn't go out like a groupie, LOL.
Back to Spolks' new mixtape....this kid seems to be EVERYwhere but he actually lives in DC. I been meaning to ask him how he hooked up with Bonecrusher for this new project (I heard about it months ago) but it keeps slipping my mind. You may remember Spolks Man from 'How To Make Crack' vol's 7 & 8, one of which was hosted by Archie Eversole (who is coming soon with new material himself).
New mixtape from the midwest's favorite street rappers. Like I was telling the homie BradUn DeShay yesterday I wayyyyy behind on my mixtape listening game. I just got around to peeping Bran's 'Two For The Show' and Frank Ramz' 'Falling Up' from beginning to end (both pretty good tapes, I might add). Chicago and Medusaville, I see ya'll.
Whether or not this tape is truly dope is up for discussion but based on past S&YD past material it should be pretty solid whip banger material. Download Streets & Young Deuces 'Straight Drop Music' here.
I'm still getting settled in from the A and CoreDJs retreat. Went down on Wednesday morning and checked out the dude R.E. at the Ozone mag offices. After that it was Alabama time to put in work down there until Friday afternoon then it was back to the A for Core.
It was a good weekend for networking, connecting and building new business relationships.
Be sure to tune into this week's on air shows for a full wrap up of Core retreat.
Isis Wisdom over at Word On The Streets magazine has done the best synopsis so far on how it went down. If you werent there make sure you don't miss the next one!
Congratulations to NC's Shelly B: She just launched her own television show 'Big Tyme TV'! Shelly has been on her grind super heavy and just won Female Artist of the Year at this weekend's NCUMA's (2nd time winner) & also performed at the Women of Hip Hop event last month.
Big Tyme TV airs every Sunday night at 10PM on Channel 10 and which can be viewed in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, NC.
You can also check out Shelly's youtube page for more footage; past episodes of Big Tyme TV will also be posted there. Talk about a relentless grind!
New mixtape from DJ Mo Money and Fayettenam's Rizzy. Rain's 'Fly Gangsta' EP should be dropping soon as well. I'm loving Carolina's grind right now. I already told ya'll, it's going to be a hot summer in the Carolinas!
Download DJ Mo Money Presents 'Rain's World Vol.1' here.
This week Randy Roper aka R.E.(Music Editor, Ozone Magazine) and I discuss the new Officer Rawse, I mean Rick Ross album dropping tomorrow, how much he'll sell in the first week and what this means for his career.
Randy also asked Jen McKinnon aka Ms. Rivercity, DJ B Lord, DJ Black Bill Gates, Charlamange & others to give estimates on first week sales for Ross's new album and revealved those numbers during this week's episode. We also give our own estimates: R.E. thinks it will do around 200,000 units while I say 50,000.
On some real stuff I peeped the new album and it's dope. Straight grown man hip hop. I don't care about Rawse's past as a corrections officer and denying it at first.
The North Carolina Undergound Music Awards took place this past weekend in Winston Salem, NC. It was a big weekend in NC as all the well known hip hop crews, businesses and affiliates from the Carolinas and surronding states came out to celebrate and attend the main event, pre and after parties. Stay tuned to the NCUMA's website for pics and video from the events.
There were several NC/SC radio station reps, DVD magazines and other media outlets in the building.
However The Nanci O Radio Show was the ONLY media outlet reporting LIVE on the radio during the Awards event via Soul 104.5 FM Fayetteville, NC and web streaming!
Shout out to Kalim Hasan (Program Director @ 104.5 FM), Kutlass, O of O ENT INC, Major & Angie Potter (founders of The NCUMAs) and The National Black Theatre Festival for their assistance in helping me set up the remote and report LIVE on the radio airwaves during the Awards show!
Below are just a few of the on the spot interviews done at the event and aired live on 104.5 FM.
Rio (Gucci Mane,Rico Barrino, 'Scorned' The Movie with Idris Elba & Mekhi Phifer, etc) won Producer of the Year:
This project is straight Cali flava and features several well know Project Blowed alumni, including Rico Shade, Zayd, Medusa and more. Project Blowed is 15 years going strong. Download 'Hip Hop In It's Purest Form' mixtape here.
I been trying to tell heads the femcee circuit is alive and well. This tape features Ma Barker (WTH has SHE been?), Cali's Medusa , RicoShade, Tiye Phonex + more.
Kandi Cole (Happy Birthday Kandi Cole!) and the rest of The (SIS)TEM flew out from Los Angelos last month, performed at the Women Of Hip Hop event and shut it down with that West Coast heat.
New video from NC legend/Hall of Justus Music Group memmber L.E.G. Dude has always been nice on the mic--but this video is questionable. I've peeped the track several times and still don't get the concept behind it.
New album 'Suicide Music' dropping soon. L.E.G. says it will all make sense when the album drops this summer.
*Updated Link*--The newest mixtape from one of my favorite up and coming MC's out of ATL.
So far Fuze has sold 2000+ mixtapes the good ole fashioned Master P out the trunk of the car way. The project is broken up into two sections, one for soul and one for flesh. The name comes from a Christian concept of have two separate organisms inside of you flesh and soul.
I've heard people say dude is mad young and he is. Which is a good thing as it means he has time to continue to develop his style.
Shay Boogie is an ice cold femcee originally from Bronx, NY currently based in Houston, Tx.
Her buzz in Texas is pretty crazy right now so I was glad to be able to get Shay on the show for an interview---much respect for that. Shay's been on the grind pretty heavy and her style is east coast with a heavy H-Town flavor.
Be sure to check out CD Baby where you can cop her latest album 'Flow and Hustle'(the reverse of Hustle and Flow). Peep the interview and you'll see what she's talking about.
Straight outta LoCash is a crazy motherf**er named Gusto, er, I mean straight outta Medusaville is the newest project from Frank Ramz.
The mixtape was originally set to drop April 30 but dude decided to go ahead and release it. 'Holy Ghost' produced by B.Logik takes it back to chuuch. Somebody pass the collection plate, please and thank ya.
Fresh from Raleigh's ManPowerMusicGroup is the follow up single to Big Prime's 'Trappin Drawz' Ft. Shawty Lo. 'Drawz' popped up on numerous mixtapes last year, including DJ Smallz 'Southern Smoke' Series and tapes by DJ Omega Red and DJ L-Gee--and also the mixtape I did last year with DJ Eaazzeee 'The Finest In Music' Vol.1.
Ask just about anyone in town and they know who Sista 1 is. Her style is a mix of hip hop and dancehall. Sista 1is a Jersy native and well known promoter in Durham. She also performed at the Women of Hip Hop event that took place last month.
I'd been trying to touch base with her for a minute and finally caught up to her in the mall, which is where this interview took place, LOL.
