'Yea, I'm A Nerd' (Mixtape)--CJ The Genesis...

Remember when calling someone a nerd was just as bad as saying 'Your Mama!'? Those were straight fighting words. Now it's considered cool to be a nerd. Louis and Gilbert would be so proud.

So here's a brand new project from DMV's CJ The Genesis. Last time I heard from dude he was on the 'Road To Shine' mixtape presented by Fuze The MC and Kayne Live.com.

The mixtape samples all video games in the beats. It reminds me a little of Brandun DeShay's 'Volume 2 For The Show' mixtape that had samples from Galaga but CJ goes all the way in on the video samples. Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep.

Where Is Hip Hop? Episode 21...

As discussed in earlier episodes there are several Carolina artists signed to major record labels: J. Cole (NC)--Roc Nation; Lil Ru (SC)--Def Jam; State House (SC)--Grand Hustle; Yung Daze (SC)--Collipark Records.

How will these artists be able to translate major label co-signage into success?

This week R.E. and I discuss the importance of support, a strong local and state wide fan base and it's impact to an artists success or failure.

**Side note: Did ya'll know Lil Ru's album is dropping tomorrow?
Yeah me neither. Where is that dude's promo team at?**

J. Cole Interview...

The word is finally out and the streets of NC are buzzing. Contrary to popular belief "everybody" is not on the internet and some heads in The Cack are just now starting to come around to who J. Cole is.

Last week
J. Cole came home to NC for an official mixtape release party for The Warm Up Vol. 1 mixtape. While here he hit the streets of Carolina and hand distributed 5000 mixtapes across the state the old Master P-out of the trunk-style.

Last Saturday night during the show J. Cole and I talked about how he deals with the pressures of living up to the Jay-Z co-sign hype; remember when Jay-Z was president of Def Jam 2004-2008? Whose album besides Hov's dropped during those years? Exactly.

During the interview J. Cole also talks about how he plans to make his mark in the industry and why education has been such a critical element of his success.

I think this kid should run for a political office someday.

Shout out to
R.E. for looking out. 'Preciate ya.

Al Chauncy The Mayor Interview x Carolina Crushers Vol. 1 (Mixtape)...

Raleigh, NC native Al Chauncy has been on a consistant grind over the past year. In addition to working on his music I've noticed how how his image has changed and improved. It's good to see people progressing.

Al Chauncy recently dropped the mixtape North Carolina Crushers Vol. 1 with the legendary DJ Smallz, has a new EP out
Room 2 Conquer and will be delivering his debut album Meet The Mayor in the fall.

'Make The Road By Walking'(Mixtape)--Frank Ramz...

Straight outta LoCash is a crazy motherf**er named Gusto, er, I mean straight outta Medusaville is the newest project from Frank Ramz.

Unless I'm missing something I don't think there's any production from B. Logik this time around but the mixtape is still a winner.

What always strikes me about Ramz' music is even though he's from New York he doesn't sound like he's from New York.

Lil Brod Interview...

South Carolina recording artist Lil Brod seems to be everywhere these days. He's signed to one of the top independent records label in South Carolina, Head Hunter Records. His current single 'Do You Mind' is in rotation at Urban radio stations throughout the Southeast. With production from top notch South Carolina producer $9 Million, nominations for a South Carolina Music Award on deck and a recent feature on Fader's website Lil Brod shows no signs of stopping.

This past Saturday night Lil Brod called into the show where we chop it up about his new album dropping soon--Key To The City-- and why he's "mashing out" so hard.

Brod also weighs in on the Lil Ru drama and states why dude may never be able to come home to SC.
